Men's Hoops Handles Lawrence Tech

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's basketball team defeated Lawrence Tech 68-56 in a conference match-up on Saturday.

The Saints held a comfortable nine point lead with 7:52 remaining in the first half. The visiting Blue Devils went on a 12-3 run to make it a tie game at halftime, 27-27.

A lay-up by Myles Copeland gave the Saints a two point lead, sealing the fate of the Blue Devils with 16:18 left on the clock. Siena Heghts (8-12, 4-8) held their biggest lead of the night, 13 points, with 1:02 on the game clock.

Jerrell Martin lead the Saints with 15 points and six rebounds. Christopher Pearl added on 13 points and four steals.

Brad Watterworth and Jon Harden both added 14 points a piece for Lawrence Tech. Jake Mullin added 11 points for the Blue Devils (4-16, 3-9).

As a team, the Saints shot 25-55 (45.5 percent) from the floor while the Blue Devils shot 21-46 (45.7 percent). From the free throw line, SHU shot 13-17 (76.5 percent) and LTU shot 6-11 (54.5 percent).

The Saints will host first-ranked Davenport for an 8 p.m. WHAC contest.
