Men's Hoops Outlasts Lourdes (Ohio)

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's basketball team outlasted Lourdes (Ohio) in a 66-64 conference victory.

Jerrell Martin opened up the scoring for the Saints (7-11, 3-7), taking the lead and keeping in for the remainder of the game, but not without a fight from the Gray Wolves.

With 00:31 seconds left in the first half, Zach Steinmetz drained a three-pointer to get Lourdes (8-9, 3-7) within three points of the Saints 29-26 lead.

The Saints opened up the second half with an 11-2 run, for their biggest lead of the night, 13 points. LU got within one point of the Saints with 5:34 left on the game clock and again with 00:11 left in the game after the 4 for 4 three-pointer by Steinmetz.

A free throw by George Goodman put the Saints up, 66-64, with nine seconds left. Lourdes' Darrionate Stewart missed the final three-pointer of the game to ensure the Saints victory.

Goodman led the Saints with 19 points and eight assists. Alec Meyers put-up 15 points while Martin finished with 10 points. Myles Copeland had the game-high nine rebounds.

Gray Wolves' Steinmetz finished with 27 points and eight rebounds. Julian Johnson and Hamish Abbott both scored 10 points each, Johnson earning seven assists.

As a team, the Saints shot 25-54 (46.3 percent) while the Gray wolves shot 26-55 (47.3 percent).

Siena Heights will be play on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., on the road, against Aquinas.
