Men's Hoops Earns First WHAC Victory

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's basketball team clinched the first Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference win over Madonna with a final score of 74-67 on Wednesday at SHU Fieldhouse.

Aaron Cook led the Saints with 16 points and had 11 rebounds giving him a double-double on the night. Cook was 4 of 6 (.667) from the field and 8 of 10 (.800) from the foul line. George Goodman was able to add 14 points and eight assists for SHU (2-3, 1-2). 

Madonna was led by Zak Lewis who finished with 13 points. Chris Dierker added 11 points and grabbed eight boards for the Crusaders (3-6, 1-2).

In the first half the Saints trailed the Crusaders 18-26 before going on a 20-5 run to end the first half 38-31. At the half the Saints outshot the Crusaders .387 to .556 percent from the field, .182 to .333 from three-point land and .417 to .700 from the line.

In the second half, SHU was able to keep the lead to hold off the Crusaders.

The Saints will head to Ypsilanti to face Eastern Michigan in an exhibition game on Friday, Nov. 20 for an 11 a.m. tip-off.
