Men's Basketball Loses at #7 Cornerstone

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights men's basketball team suffered an 85-66 loss to seventh-ranked Cornerstone in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference play on Wednesday.

Christian Covile led the Saints with a double-double, finishing with 21 points and 11 rebounds, while George Goodman put in 21 himself and Jerrell Martin hauled down six rebounds.

The Saints led by as many as seven in the first half, taking a 15-8 lead on a Tyler Leighton three-pointer, but an 11-1 Cornerstone run helped the hosts take command.

CU held a 37-29 advantage at halftime before leading by as many as 25 points in the second.

Kyle Steigenga led the Eagles (22-5, 16-3) with 22 points while Cory Cox, Joey Blauwkamp and Ben Lanning put in 17, 15 and 10, respectively. Cox also had eight rebounds.

The Saints (10-17, 6-13) will be in action again on Saturday with a 7:30 p.m. home WHAC meeting with Lourdes (Ohio).
