Eighteen Football Student Athletes Honored by NAIA

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2023 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes award.  The Siena Heights Football Program had eighteen student-athletes earn this distinction.

In order to be nominated for the NAIA Scholar-Athlete, an individual must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport, and have attended two full years as a non-transfer or one full year as a transfer.

Earning the award for the Saints was:

Nico Fernandez (2nd time), junior, business major from Wyandotte, Michigan

Eric Finke (1st time), sophomore, business major from Cincinnati, Ohio

Jack Fitzgerald (2nd time), senior, business major from Sandusky, Ohio

Wyatt Howe, (2nd time), junior, nursing major from Mason, Michigan

Zach Keyser (2nd time), senior, mechanical engineering major from Spring Lake, Michigan

Wadiah Lakotas (1st time), sophomore, accounting major from Toledo, Ohio

Joshua Mack (1st time), sophomore, business major from Napoleon, Ohio

Nik Martin (2nd time), senior, business major from Fort Wayne, Indiana

Justin McCown (4th time), senior, business major from Sterling Heights, Michigan

Zack Mullins (1st time), junior, business major from Macomb, Michigan

Bobby Opalewski (1st time), junior, criminal justice major from Lapeer, Michigan

Weston Palmer (2nd time), senior, accounting major from Flint, Michigan
