LoPresto, Askin Named To First Team; Nine Football Players Honored on All-MSFA Mideast Squad

Running back Ethan LoPresto and defensive back Shamar Askin headlined a group of nine Siena Heights football players selected to the All-Mid-States Football Association Mideast League Team. LoPresto and Askin were recognized on the First Team.

The other seven included four Second Team performers, wide receiver Eric Williams II, offensive lineman Walter Baughman, defensive lineman Antonio Simley and linebacker Clarke Hamilton. Honorable mentions were wide receiver Credell Prather, offensive lineman David Robinson and defensive lineman Joseph Wharton.

LoPresto led the MSFA Mideast with 13 rushing touchdowns and tied for the league lead with 15 total touchdowns as SHU's lead back. He finished with 188 carries for 918 yards, which ranked him No. 2 in the Mideast. He also had seven receptions for 58 yards.

Askin was a lockdown cornerback for the SHU defense, ranking fourth on the team with 41 total tackles (3 1/2 for-loss). He had two fumble recoveries and two interceptions; one of those INTs, he ran for a touchdown in the Saints' win against Concordia.

Williams' Second Team honor is his fourth as a Saint. He was previously a Second Team performer in 2022 and 2021 and a First Team player in 2020. In 2023, Williams tied for the team lead with 36 receptions and led the squad with 753 receiving yards. Williams had seven receiving TDs. In the MSFA Mideast, he ranked third in yards receiving, fourth in touchdown receptions and tied for fifth in receptions.

Simley received his second consecutive MSFA Mideast accolade after earning First Team honors a year ago. Simley led the Saints with 7 1/2 sacks and was second on the team with 10 1/2 tackles-for loss. Simley was also third on the team with 48 tackles. He was credited with a forced fumble. Within the MSFA Mideast, he tied for third in sacks and was ninth in tackes-for-loss.

Hamilton was the team's leading tackler with 74 stops and 11 tackles-for-loss. He ranked third with four sacks while also collecting an interception and forced fumble. Inside the MSFA Mideast, he was eighth in TFLs and tied for eighth in total tackles.

Baughman and Robinson were key linemen in front of the third-most productive rushing attack in the MSFA Mideast, which averaged 174.6 yards per game. Baughman was a tackle and Robinson was a guard.

Wharton is now a two-time MSFA Mideast honoree after earning First Team honors last season. In 2023, he was second on the team with 4 1/2 sacks and third with 9 1/2 tackles-for-loss. He tied for the conference lead with three forced fumbles while accumulating 4 1/2 sacks.

Prather tied Williams for the team lead with his 36 receptions. He totaled 611 yards and five touchdowns.
