LoPresto's Three TDs, Medvedik's Kick Lift Football to Homecoming Win

ADRIAN, Mich. -- Siena Heights running back Ethan LoPresto scored three touchdowns and set up kicker David Medvedik for a 31-yard, game-winning field goal, as the Saints' football team earned a 24-21 Homecoming victory over MSFA Mideast opponent Taylor on Saturday at O'Laughlin Stadium.

LoPresto found paydirt three times and totaled more than 200 yards of all-purpose yards. A 51-yard run in the final moments set up Medvedik's kick.

LoPresto finished with 21 carries for 184 yards and two scores. Through the air, he had two catches for 20 yards.

Fellow back Jordan Ramsey had seven carries for 67 yards. Wide receiver Credell Prather added four catches for 102 yards and wide-out Eric Williams had three grabs for 66. SHU quarterback Elijah Taylor completed 12 of 32 passes for 236 yards.

The defense was led by linebacker Clarke Hamilton, who made 14 tackles. Defensive lineman Antonio Simley and linebackers Cayden Hankins and Jack Fitzgerald added eight stops each. Fitzgerald recovered two fumbles while Hanks had a forced fumble and recovery.

Linebackers Tanner Rubenstein and Wyatt Howe also forced fumbles. Simley and fellow lineman Nico Fernandez combined on a sack.

The contest appeared headed to overtime until LoPresto broke his big run to set up Medvedik.

SHU had held possession with 3:24 to go, and after six plays, 23 yards and three Taylor timeouts to preserve the clock, the Saints punted away to the Trojans' 15-yard-line.

TU's ensuing drive lasted only 33 seconds before it was forced to punt. SHU took over at its own 30 with 21 ticks remaining.

A pair of incomplete throws set the stage for a third-and-10 dash by LoPresto which, 51 yards later, left one second on the clock for Medvedik's heroics.

The teams entered halftime with a 14-14 scores. LoPresto caught a 16-yard TD pass from Taylor and, later, ran in a two-yard rush.

LoPresto helped SHU to a 21-14 lead early in the fourth quarter with a 45-yard touchdown run before the Trojans tied the game two minutes later.

The Saints will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 21, with a visit to MSFA Mideast opponent Concordia.
