Football Drops MSFA Opener at #4 IWU

MARION, Ind. -- The Siena Heights football team dropped a 48-12 contest to fourth-ranked Indiana Wesleyan in its MSFA Mideast League opener on Saturday.

SHU quarterback Elijah Taylor threw touchdown passes to wide receivers Eric Williams II and Credell Prather, but the Saints' offense was held mostly in check by host IWU (5-0, 2-0).

Taylor finished 9 of 29 for 182 yards, the two scores and three interceptions. Williams and Prather made three receptions each for 89 and 67 yards, respectively. Running back Ethan LoPresto totaled 16 carries for 73 yards.

Defensive back Amir Stewart was credited with 11 tackles for SHU (2-2, 0-1) while linebacker Zach Keyser had 10.

Taylor's TD pass to Williams was an 83-yard strike, helping the Saints close their deficit to 17-6 in the second quarter.

In the third, Taylor's 24-yard touchdown pass to Prather pulled SHU within 34-12.

The Saints will play next on Saturday when they visit Saint Francis (Ind.)
