Football Heads West Again For Contest at Judson

ELGIN, Ill. -- The Siena Heights football team will visit Judson (Ill.) for a non-conference contest on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. CDT (2 p.m. EST)

Last week, the Saints defeated Saint Ambrose, 28-14, in their home opener at O'Laughlin Stadium. Quarterback Elijah Taylor had two touchdown passes and a touchdown run.

Taylor finished 17 of 29 for 239 yards in the passing department and three for 20 in the rushing area. His two touchdown passes went to wide receiver Eric Williams II, who finished with five catches for 88 yards.

Running back Ethan LoPresto finished with 15 carries for 64 yards and a TD. Fellow back Jordan Ramsey had 12 carries for 43 yards and wide-out Credell Prather hauled in six catches for 85 yards.

Linebacker Clarke Hamilton was SHU's leading tackler with eight stops, including one for-loss. Defensive backs Shamar Askin and Jack Fitzgerald and lineman Antonio Simley added seven apiece. Simley had a sack.

Defensive lineman Jayden Giles added a tackle-for-loss, defensive back Mason Leach and linebacker Joshua Mack forced fumbles and linebacker Markel Main recorded a fumble. Interceptions were recorded by defensive backs Isaiah Pizzo and Devan James.

 

SAINTS LEADERS

Taylor, a transfer from Wayne State, has emerged as the primary QB for SHU. He made his debut in relief during the season opener at Roosevelt before leading the way last week against Saint Ambrose.

On the year, Taylor has completed 25 of 50 passes for 328 yards and two touchdowns. Taylor has been intercepted twice. The top three receivers for Siena Heights thus far have been Bobby Opalewski, Credell Prather and Eric Williams II.

Opalewski leads the Saints in receptions with nine catches for 99 yards. Prather has seven grabs for 103 yards.

Williams, who had two touchdown receptions against Ambrose, has six receptions for 111 yards on the year. He is the team leader in all-purpose yards with 274 (137.0 per game). Williams has six kickoff returns for 163 yards (27.2 average).

SHU has employed a two-man backfield in Ethan LoPresto and Jordan Ramsey. LoPresto leads the way so far with 25 carries for 107 yards and two scores. Ramsey has 22 rushes for 79 yards.

The Saints' defense has been led by defensive back Jack Fitzgerald and linebacker Clarke Hamilton with 13 tackles apiece. Two of Hamilton's stops have been for a loss. Defensive back Shamar Askin has 12 tackles.

On the line, Antonio Simley and Joseph Wharton have one sack each. Wharton totals 2 1/2 tackles-for-loss.
