UPLAND, IND. – The Siena Heights football team finished the 2022 season with a 24-7 win on the road against Taylor on Saturday afternoon. The Saints never trailed in the win and improved to 5-5 overall and 4-3 in Mid-States Football Association Mideast League play.

Kaleb Jefferson completed his second 100-yard rushing game with 129 yards on the ground and a touchdown. Jefferson was efficient all afternoon, averaging 6.5 yards per carry in the winning effort. Jamon Benson II contributed 86 rushing yards, while Justin Wise and McCown each tallied a rushing touchdown. Kole Murlin led the Saints' defense with 12 stops. Andrew McGaughy totaled ten tackles.

Siena Heights took the lead on the opening drive after Jefferson scampered for 47 yards on the third play of the drive for a 7-0 lead. The Saints would cross the 50-yard line two drives later but would sputter at the Taylor 40-yard line and punted to the Trojans.

Anthony Secchi increased the lead to 10-0 with a 27-yard field goal at 11:50 of the second quarter. The score would remain there as the teams entered halftime.

The Saints moved the ball to the Trojan 26, but Secchi's 43-yard field goal attempt missed wide right to keep the score at 10-0 with just over 10 minutes to play in the third frame. However, Armand Childs picked off Trojan quarterback Elijah McCloskey to give SHU the ball back inside the Taylor 30-yard line. Benson II set up a one-yard rushing touchdown McCown as the Saints moved ahead 17-0.

A 41-yard touchdown pass from McCloskey to Dakohta Sonnichsen put Taylor on the board, 17-7, with just six seconds off the clock in the final quarter. Justin Wise scored the game's final touchdown with a 26-yard run on fourth down that capped a six-play, 51-yard drive for Siena Heights to seal the win.
