ADRIAN, Mich. – The Siena Heights football team fell 22-6 to No. 5 Indiana Wesleyan in a Mid-States Football Association Mideast League matchup on Saturday afternoon. The game was the final home game for the Saints in the 2022 season.

The Siena Heights defense caused the Wildcats trouble throughout the game, as IWU had 2.9 yards per play. The Saints' defense halted Indiana Wesleyan's opening drive and forced them into a field-goal attempt, which was no good.

A muffed punt gave the Wildcats the ball on the SHU 9-yard line, but the Siena Heights defense remained rigid and forced a 22-yard field goal. This kick was good to give IWU the lead, 3-0, with 3:04 left in the first quarter.

On the ensuing Indiana Wesleyan drive, the Wildcats again got the ball in Saint territory and had to settle for a third field-goal attempt, this one from 42 yards out, and pushed the score to 6-0 with 12:08 left in the first half.

Ryan Wofford recovered a strip sack by Isaa Abeo, and IWU got possession at the Siena Heights' 10-yard line with just over two minutes left on the clock. Two plays later, the Wildcats scored the first touchdown with a seven-yard pass to extend the lead to 13-0 with under a minute left in the first half.

Hayden Lehmann threw an interception on the first SHU drive of the second half that gave the ball to IWU at the Siena Heights 28-yard line. However, the Saint defense came up big again as they forced the Wildcats to settle for another field goal attempt and kept the game within two scores in the margin.

Lehmann completed a 16-yard pass to Michael Guyton on the next drive before completing a 38-yard touchdown pass to Bobby Opalewski to get Siena Heights on the board. SHU went for the two-point conversion, but it was stopped, and the score remained 16-6 with 6:01 in the third quarter.

The final scoring play capped a 12-play, 61-yard drive for Indiana Wesleyan. The Wildcats attempted a two-point conversion that was also unsuccessful, and the score sat at 22-6, where it would sit until time expired in the final quarter.
