Saints Prepare to Faceoff Against #9 Marian in Mideast League Action on Saturday

The Siena Heights football team faces Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Mideast opponent #9 Marian this Saturday, November 6, inside O'Laughlin Stadium. The Saints look to bounce back from a 27-10 defeat to #7 Indiana Wesleyan last week. The Knights enter the game off a bye week.

SERIES HISTORY
Marian leads the series against the Saints 8-0 since the inaugural meeting in 2012. This is the third straight home game for SHU in this series, as last year's competition was canceled due to COVID 19.

ON THE FIELD
Freshman quarterback Ryan Minor is completing 68.3% of his pass attempts (69-101) this season. His favorite target, Eric Williams II, has 27 catches for 398 yards and four touchdowns. On the ground, Siena Heights splits carries between juniors Kaleb Jefferson (70 for 356 yds.) and Jared Jordan (69 for 340 yds.). Jefferson is a threat in the passing game as well as he is second on the team with 19 receptions.

The Saints' defense is among the top-25 teams in the
National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) for yards per game (262.3, 9th), rushing yards per game (74.3, 9th), and points per game (16.9, 15th). Junior linebacker Kole Murlin is fourth in the NAIA in tackles per game, with 12.6. He leads the Saints' defense with 88 tackles and eight tackles for loss for 2021.

Senior Andrew Loria leads the pass rush with 4.0 sacks. He is just a half-sack short of tying his 2019 total of 4.5 sacks. Gabe Callery leads the Saints with three forced fumbles, while Trenton Morrow and Antonio Simley have two fumbles. Callery also leads the team with four interceptions.

Junior kicker Anthony Secchi has completed seven of his nine field-goal attempts (82%), with his season-long being 44 yards. Secchi has missed just one extra-point attempt in 2021 (8-9) and is the leading scorer for the Saints with 45 points. Junior Caleb Meister has pinned opponents behind their 20-yard line nine times and averages 37.1 yards per punt. Williams II has amassed 377 yards on 13 kick returns to lead in that category. Mich Howell has nine punt returns for SHU for a total of 62 yards. With his receiving and kick return numbers, Williams II leads Siena Heights with 804 all-purpose yards.

Zach Bundalo leads the Knights under center. Bundalo is 97-187 (51.9%) for 1818 yards and 18 touchdowns through the air. Daylen Taylor leads the running backs with 845 yards on 128 carries and eight rushing touchdowns. Baron Huebler has nine rushing TDs and 574 yards on the ground. Johnny William leads on the outside with 35 receptions for 777 yards and nine touchdown catches.

Sir'Zion Dance leads defensively with 60 tackles, 10 TFLs, one forced fumble, and one interception. Nate Frey has 44 tackles, 1.5 TFL, a fumble recovery, and an interception. Tyler Bukur and Krystapher Oakley each have 34 and 33 tackles, respectively.

Marlon Pomili is 8-12 in field goal attempts with a season-long of 40 yards. Pomili has made 36 of his 39 extra-point attempts and leads the team in scoring with 60 points. Tayler Soper has punted 39 times for a total of 1637 yards (42.0 AVG). He has pinned opponents inside the 20-yard line 21 times this season. Jalen Jennings is the team's leading kick returner with 13 for 560 yards. Daylen Taylor leads the team in all-purpose yards with 939.
