Football Looks to Bounce Back in Home Game Against Saint Francis (Ill.)

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights football team will host Saint Francis (Ill.) this week for the team's home opener. The game is a Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) crossover game. The kick-off is set for noon EST. The Saints (0-2) enter today's contest after a tough 20-13 home loss to Saint Xavier. The Fighting Saints are coming off a 40-17 defeat against #9 Marian (Ind.) at home.
 
SERIES HISTORY
 
This is the fifth meeting between St. Francis (Ill.) and Siena Heights University in football. The SHU Saints have won the last three matchups to hold a 3-1 advantage in the series.
 
The last time these teams met was in Joliet, Illinois on 9/22/2018 when Siena won 38-27. This is the third game of the series held at O'Laughlin Stadium. The teams each share a win in Adrian, Michigan with the most recent being a 34-16 win for the host Saints. SHU has won by a combined score of 91-57 during the three-game winning streak.
 
ON THE FIELD
 
Siena Heights
Quarterback Hayden Lehmann leads the team under center. So far this season, he has completed 48.1% of his pass attempts (25-52) for 285 yards and one touchdown. Lehmann accounts for both of the SHU rushing touchdowns this season. Jared Jordan leads out of the backfield with 124 yards on 25 carries. Eric Williams II has been a favorite target of Lehmann as he has a team-high eight catches for 96 yards and a touchdown. Kashon Prather is coming off a monster game against St. Xavier where he caught two passes for 84 yards to bring his season total to three catches for 140 yards.
 
The defense continued its dominant ways in game two. Kole Murlin leads the charge with 16 tackles to bring his two-game total to 38 stops and three tackles for loss. Gabe Callery forced his second fumble in as many games. He also has 13 tackles and an interception to his credit. Trenton Morrow is second on the team in tackles with 14. He also scooped up a fumble last week and has a pass breakup.
 
Anthony Secchi remains a perfect 3-3 in field goal attempts after making two this past week. His season-long boot is from 43-yards out. He has also made all three of his extra-point attempts. Caleb Meister has punted 11 times for 391 yards. His season average sits at 35.5 yards per punt and he has pinned opponents inside their own 20-yard line six times. Eric Williams II leads on kick returns with six for 163 yards. He is also the team's leader in all-purpose yards with 259 (129.5 YPG).
 
St. Francis (Ill.)
The Fighting Saints are lead by quarterback Sam Tumilty. Tumilty was 8-19 for 161 yards and one touchdown through the air against ninth-ranked Marian last week. He also led the team in rushing with 19 carries on 52 yards and a touchdown run. Ravon Johnson led the receivers with four catches for 149 yards and a touchdown reception. Only two others made catches for St. Francis (Ill.), both were out of the backfield.
 
Linebacker Chris Johnson led defensively with 16 tackles. Michael R. Johnson finished with 11 stops on the defensive line while also attributing to the team's only sack of the game. Terrance Nicholson was in on the sack with M. Johnson. Nicholson finished the game with nine tackles. Angel Mata returned an interception 51 yards to lead the team in that category.
 
Brian Maday is the Fighting Saints kicker and punter. He is 1-1 in field goal attempts with a 22-yard field goal completion. He has also made both of his extra-points attempts. On the punting side, he booted the ball eight times for 296 yards with a long of 63 yards. He pinned opponents inside the 20-yard line twice. Scott Tumilty is the team's leading kick returner with six returns for 133 yards.
