Four Football Players Named 2017 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes; 14 Honored by MSFA

Four Siena Heights Football Athletes were named 2017 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes, as announced by the NAIA Friday.Four Siena Heights Football Athletes were named 2017 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes, as announced by the NAIA Friday. Fourteen players were honored by the Mid-States Football Association for their academic success.

The lone two-time honoree for the Saints is senior Braelen Bader, who majors in Fine Arts. Senior Ronnie Giles Jr. also earned this award while studying Accounting. Juniors Izayah Newsom and Brady Tanguay were also honored, majoring in Accounting and Applied Mathematics, respectively.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director for the NAIA, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor. A total of 379 football players were honored. 

Fourteen Siena Heights' athletes were honored by the Mid-States Football Association for academic success. The lone senior was Braelen Bader, while juniors Lucas Barner Jr., Zachary Flack, Adam Glanders, Izayah Newsom, Brock Quinlan and Brady Tanguay where honored. Sophomores Kris Grodi, Andrew Loria, Mitchell Meger and Jarrad Whited were also selected as freshman Justin Carrabino, Jerrold King and Nick Pagano made the cut.
