Price Named MSFA MEL Defensive Player of the Year; Edwards Defensive First Team

Siena Heights football senior cornerback Darius Price was named the Mid-States Football Association Mideast League Defensive Player of the Year, as announced by the league recently. Junior defensive lineman Malik Edwards earned First Team All-Defense while six Saints took second team and three Saints claimed honorable mention.

Price, a 6-2, 225-pound student-athlete, became a rare four-time all-MSFA player this season, the first since Tevin Lake of Marian University in 2014. Price, who was an all-league cornerback for the first three years of his career before being named the Defensive Player of the Year and First Team in 2017 to help the Saints by logging 41 total tackles with 1.5 tackles for a loss, one sack, a forced fumble, two recovered fumbles and nine pass breakups.

Also claiming First Team honors was Edwards. The defensive lineman ended the season with 18 total tackles, with eight tackles for a loss of a total of 35 yards, including a team-leading five sacks for 28 yards.

Second Team honors went to junior wide receiver Damon Wright Jr., junior running back D'aries Davis,junior offensive lineman Colton Pfaendtner, junior kicker Brady Tanguay and sophomore linebacker Nick Stalworth.

Earning honorable mention from Siena Heights was sophomore linebacker Logan Smith, junior defensive lineman DeVonte Collins Anderson and redshirt-senior offensive lineman D.J. Haskins.

Siena Heights finished the season 2-3 in the MSFA Mideast League and 5-5 overall.
