Three Football Players Named All-MSFA Mideast First Team; Five More Honored by MSFA

Three Saints were named to the Mid-States Football Association Mideast League First Team for the Siena Heights football team, as announced by the league recently. SHU finished the 2016 season 5-5 overall and 2-4 in the MSFA Mideast League.

The lone Saint making All-Conference First Team on offense was kick return specialist Jordan Riley. The redshirt-junior had a standout game in the SHU season finale, returning the kickoff 100 yards for the longest SHU kick return in the history of the football program. In the finale against Marian, Riley also earned 208 total kick return yards for another SHU record, also earning MSFA Player of the Week honors. On the season, Riley totaled 597 yards in 20 total kick returns to average 29.9 yards per return, earning one touchdown.

Making the All-Conference First Team on defense was junior defensive back Darius Price and senior defensive back Da'vonte Price.

Darius Price is a three-time All-Conference selection for the Saints. In the 2016 season, Price totaled 28 tackles, 21 solo tackles and seven assisted tackles. He also managed five pass breakups, an interception and a forced fumble.

Da'vonte Price earned MSFA Player of the Week honors for his efforts in the upset of No. 17 Saint Xavier, ending two SXU scoring drives in the second quarter by blocking a field goal and making an interception in the end zone. He made a season-high 12 tackles in the loss to Concordia. Overall, Price made a team leading 65 tackles, 38 solo and 27 assisted. He totaled 4 interceptions for 46 yards, two pass breakups, a blocked kick and a forced fumble with a fumble recovery.

Earning All-MSFA Mideast Second Team honors was redshirt-sophomore wide receiver Deontae' Rush and senior linebacker Nate Yeloushan.

Rush led the Saints in receiving yards with 496 in 27 catches, averaging 18.4 yards per catch. He scored four touchdowns on the season.

Only playing in seven games for SHU due to a season-ending injury, Yeloushan ranks third in the Saints defense with 56 total tackles, 31 solo and 25 assisted. He managed 1.5 sacks for a loss of 10 total yards and 5.5 tackles for a loss of 17 total yards. Yeloushan also added four pass breakups and two interceptions.
