Four Football Athletes Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

Four Siena Heights football players were recently named Academic All-District by the College Sports Information Directors of America. To qualify for this honor, the athlete must be a sophomore in academic standing, have an accumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better and participate in at least fifty percent of the season. Eighteen total players were selected in District One.

Senior defensive back Cha'Quan is a sport management major who ranks second on the team with three interceptions this season. Love has also tallied 28 total tackles, two pass break-ups and has returned five punts for a team leading 40 yards this season.

Junior wide receiver, Braelen Bader is a fine arts major who has hauled in 15 catches this season for 196 yards. He also has a kick return for 18 yards for the Saints.

SHU sophomore kicker Brady Tanguay has made five field goals with a long of 41 yards out of seven attempts while also adding 12 PATs. Tanguay posted 12 points and had the game winning extra point in the 30-29 victory over Saint Xavier (Ill.) on September 24.

Fellow sophomore and defensive linemen Izayah Newsom has racked up eight total tackles, two pass break-ups, and has recovered a fumble for the Siena Heights.

The Saints will be in action on Saturday at Trinity International (Ill.) Kickoff is set for 1 p.m CST (2 p.m. EDT).
