Football Suffers Homecoming Loss to Taylor

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights football team dropped a 63-21 decision to Taylor (Ind.) in a Mid-States Football Association Mideast League game, which also served as the Saints' homecoming contest at O'Laughlin Stadium on Saturday.

The visiting Trojans (4-3, 2-2) took a 13-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back, eventually heading into halftime with a 42-14 advantage.

Running back Dont'e Fox was the Saints' leading ball-carrier, finishing with 19 carries for 122 yards and a touchdown. Fellow running back D'aries Davis also scored a TD.

Also for the SHU offense, quarterback Travis Zajkowski completed 15 of 33 passes for 222 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Wide receiver Reggie Blackmon made seven catches for 80 yards and a TD.

Linebacker Nate Yeloushan had seven total tackles for the Siena Heights defense. Defensive back Darius Price added six tackles, one forced fumble and one fumble receovery.

Defensive linemen DeVonte Collins-Anderson and Izayah Newsom had sacks while fellow linemen Marquise LaVonte White and Marcus Rhea were credited with half-sacks.

Taylor was led by quarterback Everett Pollard, who tossed four touchdown passes. He went 12 of 22 for 256 yards.

Running back Justin Keys added 17 carries for 172 yards and two touchdowns. Wide receiver Shawn Lashbrook finished with four catches for 76 yards and tight end Hans Lundberg had three grabs for 82 yards and two TDs.

The Saints (2-4, 2-3) will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 24, with a 1 p.m. EST (12 p.m. CST) matchup at Olivet Nazarene (Ill.). The game will be a non-conference contest.
