THE GAME
The Siena Heights football team will open its 2015 season with a visit to conference newcomer Lindenwood-Belleville (Ill.) for a Mid-States Football Association Mideast League game on Sept. 5. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. EST (1 p.m. CST) at Lindwood Stadium, which features a maroon and grey striped turf. This is the first football meeting between Siena Heights and Lindenwood-Belleville.

The Saints are coming off their third varsity season in which they had a 6-4 overall record and 5-1 slate in Mid-States Football Association Mideast League play. SHU won a share of the MSFA Mideast championship in 2014.

The host Lynx are also opening their season. They went 2-8 last year and did not play in a conference. LUB's wins came against Missouri Baptist and Olivet Nazarene (Ill.).

THE COACHES
Jim Lyall (Michigan '74) is in his fifth season as head coach for Siena Heights, where he now has a 15-15 varsity record. He is 119-107-1 all-time as a collegiate varsity football coach. During SHU's 2011 club season, Lyall went 8-1. He was previously the head coach at Adrian, where he compiled a 103-92-1 varsity slate. In 2014, Lyall was named MSFA Mideast Coach of the Year after guiding the Saints to their first conference championship.

Dale Carlson (Concordia, Ill. '78) is in his first year as head coach for Lindenwood-Belleville. He is 111-124-1 all-time as a collegiate varsity football coach with prior head-coaching campaigns at Lakeland (Wis.), Taylor (Ind.), Trine (Ind.), Ohio Dominican and Valparaiso (Ind.). He was named 2007 and 2001 MSFA Mideast Coach of the Year as coach of Ohio Dominican and Trine, respectively.
