MARION, Ind. -- The Siena Heights competitive cheer team set a new program record -- and then broke that new record later in the day -- during two sessions at the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational on Saturday.

The Saints scored an 86.93 during Saturday's opening competition, clearing their previous record of 86.10 set on Jan. 27 at Madonna. That score slotted SHU second behind only IWU (88.93) in the 16-team opener.

During the day's second competition, SHU eclipsed the 87-point plateau for the first time ever. The Saints scored an 87.17 and again finished runner-up behind IWU (89.98) in a 12-team event.
