SHU Cheer Finishes 5th at NAIA Northeast Regional

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights competitive cheerleading team finished fifth at the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Northeast Regional Qualifier on Saturday afternoon in the SHU Fieldhouse. The Saints finished with a final score of 80.82 to claim the fifth spot in the team standings.

St. Ambrose won the regional with a final score of 92.64. Concordia (Mich.) (88.41) hopped Lourdes (88.38) by .03 points for second after their final routines. Indiana Wesleyan finished with an 87.56 to finish ahead of SHU. Aquinas fell just behind Siena with an 80.13 final tally while St. Francis (Ind.) fell seventh with a 79.45. Bethel (Ind.) was eighth with a 73.87 and St. Francis (Ill.) was ninth with a 69.70. Mount Vernon Nazarene (62.19), Spring Arbor (61.20), and Rochester (60.19) were the bottom three teams in the regional.

The Saints will await the NAIA National Championship selections that take place to see if they are one of the teams to participate in the national competition.
