Saints Split Against Top WHAC Opponent Northwestern (Ohio)

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team played their final regular season home game vs UNOH this afternoon and split the double-header series. In game one, the Saints came out victorious winning, 4-1. In game two, the Saints fell 19-1 to split the series at one apiece. Next, the Saints will travel to Lawrence Tech on Saturday, April 27th at 1&4 PM. 

Game one: Siena Heights 4, UNOH 1 

Cole Mason led the Saints at-bat going 2-for-3 at the plate. On the mound for the Saints in game one, Matt Love played all seven innings facing 27 batters while forcing two strikeouts. 

After a slow start offensively for both teams, UNOH scored their first and only run to open the game at the top of the third inning to go up 1-0. At the bottom of the third, the Saints started to roll as VanWasshenova hit a single RBI out to right field to send Cole Mason home. Later in the inning, Kenny Layman hit single RBI up the middle to send Adam Wilding home. The last run in the inning occurred when VanWasshenova scored on a Wild Pitch to go up 3-1. To finalize the scoring for the Saints, Ty Schroeder scored on an error by the pitcher to win the game 4-1. 

Game two: UNOH 19, Siena Heights 1 

Brock Olmstead led the Saints in hitting going 1-for-1 at the plate. On the mound, Adam Wilding played the first inning facing 14 batters and forcing two strikeouts. Andrew Baum relieved Wilding as he forced one strikeout. Entering the game for the Saints later in the game was Ben Weadock, as he got into a solid rhythym forcing three srtikeouts while facing only eight batters. Christian Smolen ended the game playing the final inning, forcing one strikeout.  

The Saints struggled in game two, as UNOH came out firing. The lone run for the Saints came in the bottom of the third as Cole VanWasshenova hit a sacrafice fly RBI out to right field to send Cole Mason home.
