Baseball drops Pair in Day 2 Double-Header vs Indiana Tech

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team hosted Indiana Tech in day 2 of another double-header. In game one, the Saints fell to Indiana Tech 9-3 in extra innings and lost the second game 5-2. The Saints, (13-17, 7-7) will be back in action on Tuesday April 9th, at Cleary University. 

 

Game 1: Indiana Tech 9, Siena Heights 3 

Nick Tiller led the Saints in hitting, going 3-for-4 and scoring one run. Gino Hutchinson, Cole VanWasshenova, Kenny Layman, Brock Olmstead, Thomas Bakoway, and Brayden Hill all went 1-for-3 at bat in game one. 

On the mound, Chase Molnar pitched the first six innings, forcing two strikeouts while facing 25 batters. Matt Love came in for Molnar at the seventh inning and forced one strikeout facing 10 batters. Following Love, Christian Soolen relieved in extra innings and forced one strikeout facing three batters. 

Kenny Layman kicked off the scoring for the Saints as he hit a sacrafice fly to CF to send Gino Hutchinson home to put the Saints up 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning. In the bottom of the fouth, Cole VanWasshenova hit a single RBI sending Nick Tiller home to tie the game. The game was tied at three, sending the game to extra innings. In the extra innings, Indiana Tech scored six runs at the first at bat to win the game for Indiana Tech in game one. 

 

Game 2: Indiana Tech 5, Siena Heights 2 

Gino Hutchinson led the Saints at bat going 3-for-4 and scoring one run. Nick Tiller scored the other run for the Saints going 1-for-2 at bat.

On the mound, Adam Wilding pitched the first three innings forcing two strikeouts while facing 21 batters. Aidan Nighswander relieved for the Saints forcing two strikeouts facing five batters. Indiana Tech led the whole second game of the day two double-header.
