Baseball Splits on Friday at Warner Invitational

LAKE WALES, Fla. -- The Siena Heights baseball team split a pair of games on Friday at the Warner Invitational on Friday. The Saints lost to Concordia (Neb.), 6-4, and then defeated Calumet, 8-4.

The Saints will play their final game of their Florida trip on Saturday against an opponent to be determined.

Game one: Concordia (Neb.) 6, Siena Heights 4
Cole VanWasshenova batted 3-for-3 with a double and three runs while Jacob Jackson (double) and Cole Mason added two-hit games for the Saints.

Brayden Hill added a triple while starting pitcher Adam Wilding went the distance, giving up six runs on seven hits. He totaled three strikeouts and five walks.

SHU took the first lead on an RBI single by Jackson in the first inning before Concordia plated five runs to take a 5-1 lead.

The Saints trimmed the margin to 5-4 in the fourth. Mason and VanWasshenova had RBI singles and Jackson delivered an RBI double.

Concordia scored the game's final run in the sixth.

Game two: Siena Heights 8, Calumet 4
Gino Hutchinson batted 2-for-4 with a homer, triple and five RBI. The Saints scored in the first, sixth and seventh innings; Hutchinson produced runs each time.

Mason, Nick Tiller and Brock Olmstead registered two-hit games. Tiller scored twice and Mason (double) drove in two runs. Matt Love scored two runs.

SHU jumped in front with a 3-0 lead in the second inning after Mason smacked a two-run double and Hutchinson hit a sac fly.

The Crimson Wave tied the contest at 3-3 in the fifth, setting the stage for Hutchinson's stick in the later innings.

Hutchinson hit a two-run bomb in the sixth and, after an RBI single by Olmstead, smashed a two-run triple in the seventh.
