Baseball Splits With Morningside

AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- The Siena Heights baseball team split a pair of games against Morningside on Saturday. The Saints dropped game one, 5-0, before winning game two, 2-1. in non-conference action, 10-0 and 6-2, on Sunday.

The Saints (2-3) will return to action on Sunday with a 9:30 a.m. start against Mount Marty.

Nick Tiller batted 2-for-3 to lead the SHU offense.

Adam Wilding went the distance on the mound, allowing five runs on eight hits while compiling four strikeouts and six walks.

Morningside struck for four runs in the first inning and then tacked on one in the fifth.

The Saints scratched across two runs in the fourth inning and held on to earn the split as starting pitcher Luc Olson fired a complete game.

Olson allowed one run on four hits over seven innings of work. He struck out two batters and allowed zero walks.

Brayden Hill batted 2-for-3. Cole VanWasshenova had the Saints' only other hit.

Singles by Hill and VanWasshenova figured into the two-run fourth. Hill scored on a sacrifice fly by Cole Mason. VanWasshenova crossed the plate via error on a fly ball hit by Tiller.

Morningside came back with a sac fly of its own in its half of the fourth for the game's final run.
