Baseball Sweeps DH Over Rochester

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team swept a WHAC doubleheader against Rochester on Saturday, 14-7 and 4-3, at McLaughlin Field.

The Saints (11-31, 8-22) and Warriors (3-41, 1-29) are slated to match up twice more on Sunday, beginning at 1 p.m.

 

Game one: SHU 14, Rochester 7

The Saints did all of their scoring over two innings, plating six runs in the third and eight in the fourth.

Matt Love batted 2-for-3 with two runs and four RBI. Cole VanWasshenova added a 2-for-3 game with two runs and two RBI while Jacob Jackson added a 2-for-4 outing with one run and three RBI.

Collin Bammer also had two hits. Adam Wilding and Parker Mabe contributed two RBI apiece.

SHU got rolling on a two-run single by Love in the third. VanWasshenova and Jackson smacked RBI singles in the inning.

During the fourth, Jackson and Love had two-run singles while VanWasshenova, Wilding and Bammer drew bases-loaded walks.

Ben Weadock was the winning pitcher, giving up five runs on five hits in five innings. He recorded two strikeouts and three walks.

 

Game two: SHU 4, Rochester 3

The Saints ended the day in walkoff fashion when a groundball hit by Parker Mabe was misplayed for a Rochester error. SHU had the bases loaded when the miscue occurred and the winning run scored.

Winning pitcher Chase Molnar went the distance, giving up three runs on three hits. He finished with eight strikeouts and two walks.

Siena Heights took a 3-0 lead in the third before Rochester struck back for three in the fourth.

Mabe had a sacrifice fly and Thomas Lamnek drew a bases-loaded walk. A Warrior error accounted for SHU's third run in the inning.

Mabe, who also doubled, hit a chopper to second base with one out in the ninth. Nick Tiller scored the winning run.
