Baseball Falls Twice To Aquinas

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team lost a pair of games to Aquinas, 16-3 and 4-1, in WHAC action on Saturday at McLaughlin Field.

The Saints will return to action on Sunday with another home twinbill against Aquinas, beginning at 1 p.m.

 

Game one: Aquinas 16, SHU 3

The Saints trailed 16-0 before finding their way onto the board in the sixth inning. Nick Tiller had an RBI double during SHU's two-run sixth inning.

Siena Heights tacked on its final run in the seventh on an RBI single by Cole VanWasshenova.

 

Game two: Aquinas 4, SHU 1

A fifth-inning home run by Cole Mason served as SHU's only run in the nightcap.

VanWasshenova had two hits to lead the offense while Thomas Bakoway and Haydn Smith provided doubles.

Adam Wilding started on the mound for SHU, giving up only two earned runs on eight hits. He had four strikeouts and two walks.

Aquinas scored two runs in the seventh to take a 2-1 lead and added a pair of insurance runs in the ninth.
