Baseball Loses Single Game to Cornerstone; Game Two Suspended

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team lost to Cornerstone, 5-0, in the first half of a scheduled WHAC doubleheader on Tuesday. Game two was suspended until a later date.

Chase Molnar worked the first 4 2/3 innings on the mound for SHU (4-19, 1-10). He was charged with only two earned runs of the five allowed. Molnar gave up eight hits and struck out two batters. Garret Smith pitched 1 1/3 of scoreless relief.

Haydn Smith led Siena Heights' six-hit effort with a 2-for-3 game.

Cornerstone took the lead on a solo homer by Jake Collins in the fourth inning. Collins had a two-run double in the Golden Eagles' four-run fifth.

CU pitcher Grant Young fired a six-hit shutout. In seven innings, he recorded six strikeouts and two walks.

The Saints will return to play on Thursday with a 1 p.m. conference twinbill at Michigan-Dearborn.
