Baseball Suffers Two Losses at Lourdes

SYLVANIA, Ohio -- The Siena Heights baseball team lost a pair of WHAC contest to Lourdes (Ohio) on Wednesday. The Gray Wolves earned 9-8 and 20-2 victories.

SHU (4-18, 1-9) will return to action with a weekend series at Cornerstone. Doubleheaders are slated for Friday and Saturday at 1 p.m.

 

Game one: Lourdes 9, SHU 8

The host Gray Wolves came back from a four-run deficit to win in walkoff fashion in the seventh.

Brayden Hill batted 3-for-3 with two runs and RBI. Cole Mason, Cole VanWasshenova (homer) and Thomas Bakoway added two-hit games for the Saints.

Nick Tiller had a double.

The Saints built a 4-1 lead in the second inning with a four-run frame. Tiller smashed a two-run double while Matt Scally and Hill contributed RBI singles.

SHU had two runs in the sixth to stretch a lead to 6-2. Adam Wilding had an RBI in the inning.

Lourdes answered with a three-run fourth and a one-run fifth to the the contest at 6-all.

A two-run home run by VanWasshenova gave the Saints their final lead in the sixth.

LU trimmed its deficit to 8-7 in the sixth and then plated two runs to win in the seventh.

Joel Suraganan tied the game for Lourdes with an RBI single. Harrison Jackson hit a sacrifice fly -- his second of the game -- to end game one.

Suraganan led the Lourdes offense, going 4-for-5 with a double, four runs and two RBI.

 

Game two: Lourdes 20, SHU 2

The Saints trailed 16-0 before getting on the board with a two-run sixth. Hill had an RBI single in that inning.

Lourdes finished out the scoring with four more runs after that.

Collin Bammer had a two-hit game for SHU.
