FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The Siena Heights baseball team dropped a pair of WHAC contests against 22nd-ranked Indiana Tech on Tuesday. Final scores were 7-3 and 9-3.
SHU will return to action on Saturday and Sunday with a four-game WHAC doubleheader at Concordia. The Saints had a pair of non-conference games scheduled against Grace Christian for Wednesday, but those contests have been cancelled.
Game one: Indiana Tech 7, SHU 3
The Saints took a 3-0 lead before the host Warriors rattled off seven unanswered runs.
Matt Love, Cole VanWasshenova and Adam Wilding had two-hit games for the Saints. Both of Love's hits were two-baggers. Wilding homered, doubled and drove in two runs.
Brad South was the starting pitcher for SHU, working the first 4 2/3 innings. Garret Smith threw 1 1/3 frames of scoreless relief and struck out three batters.
The Saints took a 2-0 lead in the first inning, starting with an RBI single by VanWasshenova. Wilding followed with a solo homer.
Wilding added an RBI double in the third to push the SHU lead to 3-0. Indiana Tech responded with two runs in the third and then took the lead for good with a five-run fifth.
Game two: Indiana Tech 9, SHU 3
Siena Heights found itself playing catchup after the Warriors jumped ahead with a three-run first inning.
Thomas Bakoway and Parker Mabe smacked solo home runs in the second and third innings, respectively.
The Saints entered the ninth down 9-2 and had a potential rally brewing. Anthony Scali drew a bases-loaded walk and that was all SHU could muster in the final frame.
Wilding started on the hill, pitching 4 1/3 innings. Collin Mong (1 2/3 IP) and John Millen (1 IP) provided scoreless relief.
