Baseball Loses 5-0 in Game One Versus Lawrence Tech; Game Two Postponed Due to Storms

ADRIAN, Mich. – SHU baseball hosted Lawrence Tech on Monday, April 11th, for a doubleheader WHAC conference game. Unfortunately, game two was postponed due to the weather with a new date to be decided. Game one ended with a 5-0 victory for the visiting Blue Devils, bringing Siena's conference record to 4-7.

Game 1 SHU 3, UM-Dearborn 2 – 7 innings

Parker Mabe led the Saints going 1-for-2 from the plate. Cole VanWasshenova tallied one hit in his three plate appearances. Cameron Hammer also collected one hit during his three at-bats. Starting pitcher Parker Swartz (L,2-5) allowed five earned runs during his 5.2 inning appearance facing 27 batters and striking out one.

Defensive efforts from both teams would keep the game scoreless through the first two innings. The second inning saw only six batters total as each team saw three-up-three-down. The visiting team scored first in the top of the third off a single to right-center.

Unfortunately, the Lawrence Tech defense would keep Siena hitless during the third, fourth, and fifth innings. Starting the sixth, LTU put three runners on base, bringing one home after a fielder's choice, making the score 2-0. With two runners still on base, the visiting team hit a home run that put three runs on the board. With a score of 5-0, the Saints would put three runners on base but ultimately fall short to the Blue Devils.
