A solid defensive showing from SHU forced a three-up-three-down first inning. Although in the bottom of the third, the Cardinal would bring in three batters to go up 3-0 over Siena Heights.

Innings four and five remained scoreless for both teams as the game remained a defensive battle. In the bottom of the sixth, CUAA would score their fourth and final run of the game. In the top of the seventh, with one out, Scroggie stepped up to bat and knocked a home run to make the final score 4-1.

Then, Hammer stepped up to bat and hit a single. He was given extra bases due to an error while Wilding and VanWasshenova scored on the play to extend the lead to 7-2. Hammer was brought home by Jacob Jackson with a single on the next play, and the Saints led 8-2 after the second inning.
