ADRIAN, Mich. – Siena Heights baseball saw action in their second Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) doubleheader, taking on Cleary University. The afternoon was a cold one, as the Saints lost both contests, with game one being a close 2-1 defeat while a 7-3 score completed the nightcap.

Game 1: SHU, 1, Cleary 2 – 7 innings

Leading Siena for game one was Chris Winkelman, who batted 1-for-3 and tallied the team's only RBI. Cole VanWasshenova scored once for the home team as he reached base twice with two walks. Cody Henderson went 1-for-1 from the plate, while Adam Wilding (1-for-2) and Kenny Layman (1-for-3) also recorded base hits. Pitcher Christian Jabiro (L, 1-3) saw action in 5.3 innings facing 22 batters. Jabiro sat down six opponents while surrendering two earned runs. Matthew Love pitched 1.1 innings and struck out two batters in relief.

The first three innings saw a slow start for both teams, as tough defense on both ends caused a lack of offensive opportunities. Siena scored first, with Winkleman hitting an RBI single up the middle that brought VanWasshenvoa home to take the 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth.

The fifth inning saw one hit from each team but no runs. In the top of the sixth, Cleary University would score twice, taking the lead, 2-1, over the home team. Siena Heights would get one hit in the bottom of the seventh but would not be able to overcome the one-run deficit.

Game 2: SHU3, Cleary 7 – 9 innings

Jacob Jackson led for the Saints in game two as he went 2-for-3 from the plate, scored once, and brought in one RBI. VanWasshenova (2-for-3) also registered two hits and got on base with a walk. Winkelman (1-for-3) and Kenny Layman (1-for-4) put one run on the board for Siena Heights. While both Brad South (1-for-4) and Collin Bammer would bring in RBIs for the team. Chase Molnar (L, 0-2) started on the mound pitching for 4.1 innings and facing 24 batters. Molnar struck out four Cleary Cougars and allowed four earned runs. John Miller saw action in 4.2 innings, coming in during the bottom of the sixth to see 20 batters, allowing two earned runs and sitting down five opponents.

Cleary opened the game with three back-to-back runs jumping to a quick lead. The Saints would respond in the bottom of the second, tying up the score 3-3 with back-to-back runs. First, Layman was brought in by Jacksons' RBI double. Winkelman followed thanks to South, and Jackson ran home after a hit from Bammer.

Cleary would regain the lead in the fifth by adding two runs on the board and would further the lead in the seventh, bringing the score to 7-3. The Cougar defense would hold off the Saint's offense for the rest of the game to seal the win.
