Lake Wales, Florida – The Siena Heights Saints faced the Warner University Royals in a doubleheader on Saturday, March 5th. The blue and yellow saw two losses on the opening day of the trip to Florida, falling in both games to the Royals.
Game 1: SHU 2, Warner University 6 - (7 innings)
The top performers were:
- Adam Wilding with two RBI.
- Parker Swartz pitched 3.2 innings and struck out two batters.
SHU started game one with a leading score from Haydn Smith, he was brought in by Adam Wilding who collected his first RBI of the day. The Saints added one more to the score in the top of the third with Adam Wilding picking up RBI number two by bringing in Jakob Scroggie. The Warner Royals knocked down three scoring runs in the bottom of the third, two in the fifth, and one in the sixth, bringing the final score to 6-2. Cody Henderson hit .500 in game one seeing two at-bats and one hit while teammates Haydn Smith, Adam Wilding, and Kenny Layman saw the three at-bats each earning one hit apiece.
Game 2: SHU 0, Warner University 3 - (7 innings)
The top performers were:
- Christian Jabiro (L) 0-1 pitched five innings and struck out two Warner batters.
Siena Heights recorded a total of seven hits during game two. Seeing hits from Chris Winkelman, Cole VanWasshenova, Kenny Layman, Parker Mabe, Jakob Scroggie,Collin Bammer, and Thomas Lamnek. The Saints struggled to keep runners on base due to a few double plays from the Royals. Pinch-runner Anthony Scali saw action taken over for Collin Bammer in the top of the third and the seventh for Thomas Lamnek. Pitcher Christian Jabiro saw action in five innings during game two striking out two opponents. Ryan Sullivan relieved Jabiro, pitching one inning and striking out one batter.
