Baseball Finishes Regular Season with Split Against UM-Dearborn.

NOVI, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team split against WHAC opponent Michigan-Dearborn in their final regular-season game of the season on Sunday afternoon. 

THE BASICS

Final Score: Game 1: Michigan-Dearborn 26, Siena Heights 14 | Game 2: Siena Heights 10, Michigan-Dearborn 9

Location: Novi, Mich. (Novi High School)

Record: Michigan-Dearborn (11-11, 11-9 WHAC) | Siena Heights (9-28, 5-12 WHAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Game 1: Michigan-Dearborn 26, Siena Heights 14

Jarrett Cousino (L, 1-4) started on the mound for the Saints pitching 3.1 innings allowing eight hits, 13 runs, one walk, two home runs, and notching four strikeouts. G. Davi (W, 2-0) pitched 4.1 innings for the Wolverines allowing six hits, seven runs, seven walks, and earning three strikeouts. 

UMD opened the scoring in the 1st inning earning two runs off two hits and one error. SHU earned their first run of the game in the 2nd inning when Mike Garcia reached on a walk and Anthony Scali brought him in with a single.

Michigan-Dearborn had a big 3rd inning earning eight runs off five hits and one error. Siena brought in three runs in the 4th inning as Cole VanWasshenova singled for an RBI scoring Chris Winkelman. Adam Wilding singled bringing in Haydn Smith and Anthony Scali.

The Wolverines recorded five runs off four hits and one error. The Saints added seven runs to the board in the 5th inning off three hits and Michigan-Dearborn added eight runs in the 5th innings off seven hits. 

Siena earned one run in the 6th inning as Adam Wilding singled for an RBI scoring Cal Olmstead. UMD brought in three more runs in the 6th inning off four hits. SHU recorded their final two runs of the game in the 7th inning as Anthony Scali singled scoring Mike GarciaCody Henderson reached on a fielder's choice that brought in Cameron Hammer.

Game 2: Siena Heights 10, Michigan-Dearborn 9

Adam Wilding (W, 2-1) pitched 4.1 innings for The Saintsallowing 10 hits, seven runs, one walk, one home run while notching seven strikeouts. C. Tubbs (L, 0-1) pitched 2.0 innings for the Wolverines allowing one hit, five runs, five walks, and earning two strikeouts. 

Michigan-Dearborn opened the scoring in the 1st inning as S. Fugate singled scoring S. Hannibal. SHU earned two runs in the 2nd inning when Thomas Lamnek doubled scoring Cameron Hammer and eventually scored himself off an error. 

The game was scoreless until the 5th inning when Cameron Hammer had a three-run homer for Siena and UMD earned six runs off seven hits. The Saints brought in two more runs in the 6th inning as Kenny Layman scored on a wild pitch and Thomas Lamnek scored on a passed ball. The Wolverines scored one run in the 6th inning as S. Hannibal singled and M. McLennan scored on an error.

SHU recorded three runs in the 7th inning when Thomas Lamnek singled scoring Cameron HammerHaydn Smith reached on a fielder's choice, Kenny Layman advanced to third on an error by ss then scored and Chris Winkelman scored. Michigan-Dearborn earned their final run of the game in the 9th inning as R. Begley singled bringing in E. Morin scored.

UP NEXT 

The Saints now await the pairings for the WHAC Tournament that is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, May 6. The tournament is a double-elimination bracket that will go through Friday, May 11.
