Saints Split Doubleheader with UNOH

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team split a doubleheader against WHAC opponent UNOH on Thursday afternoon. Cameron Hammer went 2-for-6 while earning three RBIs.

Record: UNOH (22-15, 13-7 WHAC) | Siena Heights (8-25, 4-10 WHAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Game 1: UNOH 19, Siena Heights 0

Ryan Jungbauer (W, 2-0) started on the mound for the Racers pitching five innings only allowing four hits and one walk while notching nine strikeouts. Zach Bloom (L, 1-3) pitched 1.1 innings for the Saints allowing six hits, nine runs, three walks, and two home runs while earning one strikeout.

SHU was scoreless the entirety of the game. Siena had one left on base in the 1st and 2nd innings and UNOH had a big 2nd inning scoring nine runs off six hits and one error. The Racers earned three more runs in the 3rd inning off three hits while the Saints had one left on base. 

Siena left two on base in the 5th inning and one on base in the 6th inning as UNOH brought in six runs in the 6th inning off five hits and one error. The Racers sealed the deal as they recorded one more run in the 7th inning off two hits for the 19-0 win. 

Game 2: Siena Heights 8, UNOH 7

Austin McCaig (W, 1-1) earned the win on the mound for the Saints pitching 7.1 innings allowing five hits, five runs, three walks, and recorded four strikeouts. Colin Noeth (L, 1-1) started on the mound for UNOH and earned the loss as he pitched 1.1 innings and allowed four hits, six runs, and four walks. 

SHU opened the scoring in the 1st inning earning four runs as Jack Malone singled to right field for an RBI scoring Matthew Love. Cameron Hammer reached on a fielder's choice scoring Cole VanWasshenova for an RBI. Chris Winkelman doubled to left field earning 2 RBIs that brought in Cameron Hammer and Adam Wilding.

Each team scoring two runs in the 2nd inning. The Racers' G. Crabtree tripled to right center that brought in C. Flores. Then S. Jackson grounded out to third base for an RBI scoring G. Crabtree. For Siena, Cole VanWasshe advanced to third and then scored on a throwing error by the catcher while Deven Hill scored on a wild pitch.

UNOH recorded a run in the 4th inning when G. Crabtree used a sacrifice fly to right field to score B. Diel to cut the deficit to three runs. The remainder of the game was scoreless until the Saints tallied two more runs in the 7th inning as Cameron Hammer singled to center field for 2 RBIs scoring Adam Wilding and Matthew Love.

The Racers made it a close game bringing in two runs in the 8th and 9th innings off four hits but it was not enough earning SHU the 8-7 win.
