Saints Drop Two Against Indiana Tech

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team dropped a pair against WHAC opponent Indiana Tech on Monday afternoon. 

THE BASICS

Final Score: Game 1: Indiana Tech 3, Siena Heights 1 | Game 2: Indiana Tech 10, Siena Heights 1

Record: Indiana Tech (26-22, 12-5 WHAC) | Siena Heights (7-24, 3-9 WHAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Game 1: Indiana Tech 3, Siena Heights 1

Parker Swartz (L, 1-6) pitched eight innings for Siena allowing 10 hits, three runs, and tallied three strikeouts. C. Dunavan (W, 4-5) pitched a complete game for the Warriors, notching 13 strikeouts. 

Matthew Love started the scoring for the Saints in the 1st inning as he reached on base tripling to left-center and then was brought in by a balk. Indiana Tech scored the equalizer in the 2nd inning when C. Los singled to left field and scored on an RBI by J. Ritson.

The Warriors earned another run in the 3rd inning as R. Olden was hit by a pitch and Y. Saint singled up the middle to bring him home. The game was a deadlock through the 9th inning until Indiana Tech brought in their final run of the game as R. Olden singled through the right side and J. Alvidrez used a sacrifice fly to score him earning the 3-1 win. 

Game 2: Indiana Tech 10, Siena Heights 1

R. Troxel (W, 5-0) pitched 6.0 inning for ITU only allowing three hits, one run, and two strikeouts. Adam Wilding (L, 1-1) started on the mound for the Saints and pitched  4.2 innings allowing seven hits, six runs, and noticing two strikeouts. 

SHU opened the scoring in the 1st inning when Cameron Hammer reached on base by a bunt and was brought in by an error on the shortstop. The Warriors gained momentum as they earned four runs in the second inning off two hits and two errors. 

Indiana Tech had two more runs in the 5th inning off three hits and one error. The Warriors closed out the scoring in the 6th inning putting up four runs off four hits. SHU was scoreless the remainder of the game earning ITU the 10-0 win.

The Saints travel to Aquinas for a WHAC doubleheader Wednesday, April 28th. The first pitch is set for 2:00 PM.
