Saints Drop a Pair Against Spring Arbor on the Road

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team fell in a non-conference doubleheader against Spring Arbor on Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Game 1: Spring Arbor 6, Siena Heights 5

Jarrett Cousino earned the loss on the mound for SHU pitching 1.2 innings allowing four hits, five runs, five walks while striking out two batters. Jakob Southworth had the win on the mound for Spring Arbor pitching 1.0 innings allowing one hit.

The Saints struck first in the 2nd-inning when Parker Mabe doubled to right-center and scored on the double to right-center by Brad South. Haydn Smith hit a sacrifice fly to center for an RBI that scored Brad South. Adam Wilding singled to center field scoring Cal Olmstead for an RBI.

The Cougars did not score until the 4th-inning when Glenn Miller singled to right and scored on Brent Mast's RBI to the left field. SHU earned two runs in the 6th-inning as Jacob Jackson singled to center that scored Jakob Scroggie for an RBI. 

Spring Arbors' final push was successful earning five runs in the 7th-innings as Glenn Miller singled to the left-field that scored Zach Kraabel. Landon Raczkowski reached first on the fielder's choice that scored Ben Redfield. Brant Mast singled to center for an RBI scoring Josiah Kitchen and Peyton Harding reached on a walk that scored Jake Spedoske for an RBI. The final run came when Zach Kraabel singled to center field for an RBI scoring Brant Mast earning the 6-5 win.

Game 2: Spring Arbor 2, Siena Heights 1

Ryan Sullivan had the loss on the mound for the Saints as he pitched 1.0 innings allowing two hits and one run. Ryan Gillesby recorded the win on the mound for Spring Arbor pitching 5.0 innings while allowing two hits and one run while striking out four batters. Vincent Herschberger earned the save pitching two innings and only allowing one hit. 

The Cougars scored first in the 2nd-inning as Brant Mast doubled to left field and Brandon Haynes singled to center field that scored Brent Mast. They scored the winning run of the game in the 3rd-inning when Brennan Moran doubled to center field and Ben Redfield grounded out to the pitcher that scored Brennan Moran. 

Siena's final push came up short in the 5th-inning as they earned one run when Brad South reached base on an error by the shortstop and scored as Cole VanWasshenova doubled to right field for an RBI.
