Saints Go 2-2 Over the Weekend against Rochester and Lawrence Tech

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team went 2-2 over the weekend as they played one game against Rochester and Lawrence Tech on both Saturday and Sunday to update their season record to 3-8.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Day 1

Game 1: Siena Heights 9, Rochester 2

The Saints jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd-inning when Collin Bammer doubled down the right-field line for three RBIs.

The Warriors cut the deficit to one run in the top of the 3rd-inning as Brandon Williams and Bruce Kudela each had an RBI. SHU scored one run in the bottom of the 3rd-inning as Adam Wilding had a sacrifice fly for an RBI for the 4-2 lead.

Rochester remained scoreless the remainder of the game. Siena scored five more runs as Chris Winkelman, Cole VanWasshenova, Matt Love, and Cameron Hammer all had RBIs to secure the 9-2 win.

Game 2: Siena Heights 9, Lawrence Tech 7

The Saints came out hot in the bottom of the 1st-inning scoring five runs as Cole VanWasshenova had an RBI while Haydn Smith and Matt Love each had two RBIs.

The remainder of the game would be scoreless until the Blue Devils cut the lead to one run in the top of the 4th-inning as they scored four runs and L. Bushey had two RBIs, N. Picchioni and C. Vandergro each had an RBI.

In the 5th-inning Lawrence Tech scored two more runs off two hits. Matt Love doubled to left-center for SHU earning 3 RBIs and increasing the lead 8-2. Siena scored one more run in the bottom of the 6th-inning as Adam Wilding recorded an RBI. The Blue Devils scored one run in the top of the 7th-inning, but it wasn't enough earning the Saints the 9-7 win.

Day 2

Game 1: Rochester 19, Siena Heights 17

Rochester's bats were hot in the 1st-inning as they scored eight runs off seven hits and two errors. Siena scored three runs in the bottom of the 1st-inning as Adam Wilding had an RBI, Cameron Hammer scored, and Mike Garcia had an RBI.

The Warriors scored a combined eight runs in the 2nd and 3rd innings off 9 hits. The Saints had a huge inning as they scored 12 runs in the bottom of the 3rd-inning off eight hits and one error to cut the deficit to 16-15.

SHU earned one run in the 5th and 6th innings to retake the lead 17-16 when Kenny Layman scored on a wild pitch and Adam Wilding singled to center field for an RBI.

Siena was scoreless the remained of the game as Rochester earned one run in the 7th inning as C. Scillion singled to right field for an RBI and two runs in the 9th inning as C. Scillion and M. Scribner had RBIs to help the team take the 19-17 win.

Game 2: Lawrence Tech 19, Siena Heights 0

The Saints were scoreless the entirety of the game. The Blue Devils earned one run in the 1st-inning as S. Fannon tripled to right field and had an RBI.

Lawrence Tech had two runs in the 3rd-inning as N. Picchioni had an RBI and S. Fannon scored on an error. They opened in the 4th-inning scoring nine runs off four hits and one error.

The Blue Devils kept the momentum going as they scored seven runs combined in the 5th and 6th innings off 10 hits to earn the 19-0 win.

Adam Wilding went 9-9 on the weekend with 3 RBIs.

• Cole VanWasshenova went 6-13 over the weekend and earned 5 RBIs.
