Saint Split with Lawrence Tech Earning First Win of Season

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team split against Lawrence Tech on Friday afternoon as they dropped the first game 25-8 and won the second game 6-4 for their first win of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Game 1: Lawrence Tech 25, Siena Heights 8

Alek Wietrzykowski started on the mound for Lawrence Tech and Austing McCaig started on the mound for the Saints. As the game remained scoreless throughout the 1st-inning. 

The Blue Devils took an early 3-0 lead in the top of the 2nd-inning as K. Harding singled down the first baseline to open play. Siena answered in the bottom of the 2nd-inning as Deven Hill reached on a fielder's choice for an RBI that scored Adam WildingThomas Lamnek singled to center field earning an RBI scoring Cole VanWasshenova scored to cut the deficit to one run.

Lawrence Tech busted it open in the 3rd-inning as they scored five runs off of three hits. The Saints scored two runs in the bottom of the inning as Adam Wilding doubled to left field scoring Brad South for an RBI and Jacob Jackson singled to right field recording an RBI as Wilding scored to update the score to 9-4.

The Blue Devils scored two runs off of three hits in the top of the 4th-inning. SHU earned one run in the bottom of the inning as Thomas Lamnek singled to right field scoring Cal Olmstead for an RBI. 

Lawrence Tech scored nine runs off of three hits in the 5th-inning and five runs off of four hits in the 6th-inning. N. Allen, N. Olsen (2), A. Nepjuk, and K. Banaszews each had a home run between the two innings. The Saints scored three runs in the bottom of the 6th-inning as Cameron Hammer singled to left-center for an RBI scoring Chris WinkelmanAdam Wilding tripled to right center scoring Cameron Hammer and Brad South for two RBIs. 

Game 2: Siena Heights 6, Lawrence Tech 4

Ben Schmidt started on the mound for the Blue Devils and Zach Bloom stayed on the mound the whole game for SHU. The Blue Devils jumped out to a 2-0 lead as in the top of the 1st-inning as N. Post tripled to right field and scored as L. Morrisset grounded out to shortstop. S. Fannon homered down the left-field line for an RBI.

Lawrence Tech scored a run in the top of the 2nd-inning as N. Post singled to left field for an RBI that scored S. Marshall. The Saints opened up scoring three runs in the bottom of the 2nd-inning. Parker Mabe singled to right field for an RBI that scored Adam Wilding. J. Malone singled down the rightfield line, scoring Mike Garcia for an RBI. Collin  Bammer reached on a fielder's choice for an RBI to score Parker Mabe to tie the game 3-3.

The game remained 3-3 throughout the 3rd and 4th innings. SHU regained the lead in the bottom of the 5th-inning as Cameron Hammer walked and Adam Wilding has an RBI as he tripled to the left-center that scored him. 

SHU added two more runs in the bottom of the 6th-inning as Jacob Jackson singled to center field for an RBI that scored Parker Mabe and Haydn Smith doubled to left field for an RBI scoring Jack Malone scored. The Blue Devils' final push came up short as they only scored one run in the top of the 7th-inning securing the Saints the win.
