Baseball Finishes Flordia Trip 2-8 After Win Against UM-Dearborn

LAKE WALES, Florida -- The Siena Heights baseball team won their final game of spring training in Florida on Saturday morning against the University of Michigan-Dearborn finishing the trip with a record of 2-8. Logan Nolff (Senior, Monroe, Mich.) led the Saints as he finished 2-for-3 at the plate while earning two RBIs and scoring one run in the winning effort.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Saints struck first as they scored six runs in the second innings. Anthony Scali (Freshman, Pickering, Ontario) singled to second base scoring Jakob Scroggie (Sophomore, New Boston, Mich.) Cameron Hammer (Freshman, Temperance, Mich.) was hit by a pitch scoring Scali. Parker Mabe (Freshman, Fenton, Mich.) had a sacrifice fly ball that allowed Cal Olmstead (Junior, Riga, Mich.) to tag up and score. Nolff doubled to right-center scoring Smith. Nolff scored on a wild pitch to end the inning. 

The Wolverines got themselves on the board with a run in the third inning. Ryan Beadle doubled to left-field scoring Shaun Hannib. Siena added their final four runs as Hammer walked scoring Jarrett Cousino (Sophomore, Oregon, Ohio). Nolff walked scoring Scali and Trevor Hulvey (Sophomore, Sterling Heights, Mich.) reached on an error by the second baseman scoring Hammer and Cody Henderson (Sophomore, Lewiston, Montana).

UM-Dearborn added three runs combined in the fourth and fifth inning. David Gault had a sacrifice fly allowing Justin Dolne to tag up and score. Shane Fugate reached on a fielder's choice scoring Hannib. Lastly, Evan Morin singled scoring Begle. With the final two innings scoreless, the Saints earned the 10-4 win. 

TOP SAINTS

• Nolff finished 2-for-3 earning two RBIs and scoring one run.

• Hulvey went 1-3 tallying two RBIs.

• Shane Fugate finished 2-for-3 with one RBI.

• David Gault-Villareal went 1-2 earning one RBI.

• Nathan Mack (L, 0-1) pitched 1.2 innings while allowing five hits and six runs.
