Saints Baseball Sweep The Racers

Adrian, Mich. – The Siena Heights baseball team swept the number one team in the WHAC today.

Final Scores: Game 1: Siena Heights 4, Northwestern Ohio 3, Game 2: Siena Heights 3, Northwestern Ohio 1

Location: Adrian, Michigan

Records: Siena Heights (19-17, WHAC 9-7), UNOH (17-22-1, WHAC 12-6)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Game 1:

The Saints and Racers competed in a pitching duel. Saints starter Tristan Roth had a no hitter going into the 6th inning of the game. Siena had some scoring opportunities during the game but couldn't capitalize. Then as the game headed into extra inning both teams still struggled to score. In the top of the 11th inning UNOH was able to score three runs off of the Saints. SHU however, responded back by a Cody Henderson RBI single then a big Brenden Baker two RBI double. The game was tied still when Weston Cook stepped up to the plate in the bottom of the 12th. He hit a RBI single that scored the game winning run to walk it off.

Game 2:

Siena once again had a great pitching performance from there starter. Reid Olmstead pitched all 9 inning while only giving up 1 run. The Saints got on the scoreboard first in the 2nd inning when Weston Cook singled to score a run. UNOH got their lone run in the 4th inning to tie the game up 1-1. SHU scored in the 6th inning off of a Racer error to go ahead 2-1. Later that inning David Pietryga had a RBI single to extend the lead to 3-1. Olmstead closed out the game for the Saints to give them a sweep on the day.
