UTICA, Mich. -- Former Siena Heights baseball player and 2018 SHU graduate Freddy Jehle (Troy, Mich./Brother Rice) signed a contract to play professional baseball with the Westside Woolly Mammoths of the United Shore Professional Baseball League (USPBL).

Jehle finished 2018 with a batting average of .444, a mark that is the most in a single season by any Saints starter. Despite an injury that would limit him in 2018, he led the team with 14 doubles and finished fourth on the team with 40 hits. His career numbers were also very impressive as he etched his name in the SHU baseball record books, placing fourth in career hits (199) and at-bats (611), fifth in career stolen bases (52), sixth in career runs (137), and eighth in career batting average (.326).

The shortstop's 2018 campaign was topped off with a selection to the all-conference second team.

Jehle will make his debut for the Mammoth's tonight (Friday, August 17) against the Utica Unicorns. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
