Baseball Drops Two to Indiana Tech in WHAC Double-Header

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team hosted Indiana Tech in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference double-header on Saturday. The Saints dropped both contests and will complete the series on Sunday, April 29. 

GAME ONE: Siena Heights 10, Indiana Tech 13
The Saints scored two in the first inning and Indiana Tech answered by scoring five in the second and three in the third and taking an 8-2 advantage. In the fourth, SHU scored four and took back the lead, 9-8 but the Warriors were not finished. IIT scored four more runs to regain the lead and secure the victory.

Carson Wlad went 3-for-5 for the Saints and scored one run and one RBI. Four Saints finished with three hits -- Brenden Baker, Kevin Ketvirtis, Carson Wlad and Jack Slavin. Ryley Overacker and Slavin both finished with a team best, three RBI's. Ketvirtis scored a team high, three runs. 

On the mound, Reid Olmstead got the start and went 2.2 innings and suffered the loss. Robert Oliver III came in for relief and pitched the final 6.1 innings and struck out five. 

For Indiana Tech, Matt Bandor finished 3-for-4 batting, scored a team best three runs and added one RBI. Glen McClain and Reese Olden chipped in three RBI's a piece. Pitcher Nate McBroom started for the Warriors and earned the win, pitching 3.1 innings. 

GAME TWO: Siena Heights 7, Indiana Tech 13
SHU scored the opening three runs in game two, but Indiana Tech made their comeback in the second and third, scoring two runs in each. Siena Heights tied it back up in the fourth but the Warriors opened it back up to a four point advantage and made the score 8-4. SHU scored two in the seventh and reduced the deficit to two but Indiana Tech ran away with five in the eighth and took the victory. 

Pitcher Tristan Roth started and suffered the loss while pitching five innings. Roth finished with a team high four strikeouts. Michael Jones pitched two innings before Trevor Willis came in and pitched the final two. 

Indiana Tech was led by Tighe Koehring, batting 5-for-5 and finishing with four RBI's. Jason Sterrett started on the mound and earned the win, pitching 6.2 innings.

The Saints will host Indiana Tech in a WHAC double-header on Sunday, April 29. Game one of the double-header will wrap up the three game series, and the second game will be played as a non-conference contest. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
