Baseball Sweeps Triple-Header Against Michigan-Dearborn in WHAC Play

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team took on Michigan-Dearborn in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action on Friday. The Saints and Wolverines played a triple-header and swept the series, winning all three. Game scores were 14-3, 3-2 and 5-3.

GAME ONE: Siena Heights 14, Michigan-Dearborn 3
SHU opened scoring in the third, scoring three runs. Michigan-Dearborn scored one in the third and one in the fourth to lower the margin, but Siena Heights exploded in the sixth and seventh scoring six and five runs to seal the deal. 

Brenden Baker led the way, batting 3-for-3, scored two runs and made one RBI. Jacob Jones finished 2-for-4 at the plate and finished with a team high, four RBI's. Reid Olmstead started on the mound and went the distance. Olmstead finished with one earned run, allowed ten hits and struck out two. 

GAME TWO: Siena Heights 3, Michigan-Dearborn 2
The Wolverines scored the first run in the fourth inning and the Saints were able to tie it up in the fifth. In the seventh, SHU scored another two and were able to hold UMD to one run in the frame and walked away with the victory. 

Carson Wlad finished 3-for-3 at the plate and scored one run. Brendan Green batted 2-for-4 and scored two runs for Siena Heights. Taylor Acquista started on the mound and went 4.1 innings allowing six hits and one earned run, while striking out three. Wyatt West came in for relief and pitched 1.2 innings and earned the win. Michael Jones pitched the final inning of the contest and was awarded a save. 

GAME THREE: Siena Heights 5, Michigan-Dearborn 3
Siena Heights scored two in the first, but Michigan-Dearborn quickly answered, scoring three of their own and gaining the lead. In the fifth, SHU was able to score two more and take a one run lead. The Saints tacked on another run in the sixth before the game was called due to cold weather. 

Thomas Lindeman batted 2-for-3 to lead the Saints and scored one run. Deric Cain finished with a team high RBI's. Tristan Roth pitched the full six innings for Siena Heights allowing four hits and three earned runs while striking out six.

The Siena Heights baseball team will be back in action on Thursday, Mar. 29 and Saturday, Mar. 31, when they travel to Aquinas for a WHAC series. Games are set to begin with a single game on Thursday at 4 p.m.
