Baseball Splits Double-Header With Rochester

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team traveled to compete in a Wolverine-Hoosier Conference double-header against Rochester on Saturday. The Saints split the two games, winning the first 17-11, then dropping the second, 8-6.

In game one, the Siena Heights bats were on fire, finishing with 20 hits as a team, leading to 17 runs including five in the eighth and ninth. 

Brenden Baker lifted the Saints to victory with his 3-for-5 effort at the plate, scoring three times and knocking in four RBI's. Freddy Jehle contributed a 4-for-6 showing at the plate, also scoring three runs and adding two RBI's. Carson Wlad finished 3-for-5 at the plate as well, three runs and two RBI's. 

Reid Olmstead started the game on the mound, pitching four innings, facing 21 batters and striking out four. In for relief was Wyatt West, pitching two innings, Jayson Cleghorn pitching one inning and grabbing the win, and Chris McKiddie pitching two innings and recording the save. 

In game two, at the end of the seventh, the Warriors led 8-1. The Saints battled back, scoring five in the eighth, but it was not enough to grab the lead. 

Jehle helped the Saints with a 3-for-4 batting effort, and adding one RBI. Josh Tirey, went 1-for-3 at the plate, scored one run and added two RBI's. 

Starting, and suffering the loss on the mound was Erich Klingelhofer, pitching 5.1 innings. Jason Murphy came in for relief, pitching 1.2 innings before Chris McKiddie came in to end the game pitching one inning. 

Next up, the Saints will play the final game of it's three game series at Rochester, concluding the Fall schedule, on Sunday, Oct. 8. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
