Baseball Drops Both to Lawrence Tech in WHAC Double-Header

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team hosted Lawrence Tech in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference double-header on Sunday and dropped both by scores of 2-4 (10 innings) and 2-1.

In game one, LTU scored the first run of the game in the second inning and SHU was able to answer and tie the score in the third. Both teams went scoreless and forced the game into an extra inning where the Blue Devils crossed the plate three more times, and the Saints just could not complete the comeback.

Freddy Jehle led Siena Heights (2-7, 1-3 WHAC), batting 3-for-5 and scoring one run for the Saints. Brenden Baker finished 2-for-5 at the plate and knocked in one RBI. Scoring the Saints other run was Josh Tirey. Starting on the mound for SHU was Erich Klingelhofer, pitching four innings while allowing four hits and striking out three. In for relief was Jason Murphy pitching 4.1, Chris McKiddie pitching 1.0 and Jayson Cleghorn finishing the game pitching .2.

In game two, both teams were scoreless until the fourth when LTU (3-3, 3-3 WHAC) drove in two runs. The Saints were able to hold the Blue Devils for the rest of the contest, but only crossed the plate once themselves in the eighth.

At the plate, Logan Nolff went 1-for-4 and knocked in the Saints lone RBI. Baker finished 2-for-4 and scored SHU's single run. Suffering the loss on the mound for Siena Heights was Tristan Roth, pitching seven innings while allowing two hits and striking out three. Wyatt West entered the game for relief and pitched two innigs.

Next up, the Saints will travel to Rochester for a WHAC series on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 1 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 8 for a double header beginning at 1 p.m.
