Baseball Picks Up Two Victories Over Cleary

HOWELL, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team picked up two wins against Cleary in non-conference action, on Tuesday. SHU won game one 9-1 and game two 13-10.

The first three innings in game one were quiet on both sides, neither team scoring. SHU went out in the fourth and put four runs on the board and didn't stop there, adding two in the fifth and three in the sixth. The Cougars scored their lone run in game one in the seventh inning.

Starting on the mound for SHU and pitching two innings was Robert Oliver III, striking out two batters and allowing only one hit. Next on the hill for the Saints was Chris McKiddie, who threw for two innings and faced only six batters, allowing no hits. Pitching for three innings and closing out the game was Tristan Roth, striking out two and allowing a hit an bvd a run.

Four different pitchers were on the mound for the Cougars (17-27), losing pitcher was Tyndall, allowing eight runs and six runs in the first four innings of action.

SHU opened the first game with five runs only for the Cougars to add four to the board to end the first inning. Cleary took a 7-5 lead at the bottom of the second, but Siena Heights answered with three runs of their own to take over in the third, 8-7.

With three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Cougars again led 10-8. The Saints took the lasting lead of the night in the fifth inning, pushing four runs across the plate for a 12-10 lead. SHU added an insurance run in the seventh to end the game at 13-10.

For the Saints, six different pitchers saw time on the mound. Michael Jones pitched the opening two innings while the following pitchers each saw one inning: Kyle Kuhr, Reid Olmstead, Ben Finn, Nic Olson and Cameron Best. Taking the loss on the hill for CU was Falzone.

Finishing with mutli-hit games for SHU was Ty Schafer, Matthew Bondy, Alex Robbins, Kevin Ketvirtis, Brendan Green and John Watts.

Siena Heights (16-30) will return to action on Saturday as the Saints travel Indiana Tech. The WHAC double-header will start at 1 p.m.
