Cleary Overwhelms Baseball in Non-Conference Action

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Siena Heights baseball team dropped two contests to Cleary in non-conference action, on Wednesday. Game scores were 6-0 and 23-9.

In game one, Cleary started out the scoring with one run in the top of the second inning before the lightening delay in the fourth inning. Siena Heights couldn't slow down the CU bats as the Cougars brought in three runs in the fifth and two runs in sixth.

Taking the loss on the mound for SHU (14-27) was Robert Oliver III, pitching 4.2 innings while allowing six hits and four runs. He was relieved by Chris McKiddie who allowed three hits and two runs. Payton Tyndall earned the win on the hill for the Cougars, throwing the full game with three strikeouts and six hits.

Cleary (17-23-1) opened game two with four hits, Siena Heights quickly responded with five runs of their own in the bottom of the second to takeover with a 5-4 lead. The lead didn't last long as the Cougars added on eight runs in the top of the third and never looked back. SHU added some fight in the sixth with three runs and one in the seventh, but it wasn't enough as Cleary claimed the 23-9 victory.

A plethora of Saints saw time on the mound in game two, the loss going to Cameron Best who allowed five runs in the third inning. Earning the win for CU was Rhett Holwerda. John Watts and Nate Fryz each earned multiple hits in the nightcap.

Next up, Siena Heights will take on conference opponent Concordia in a 1 p.m. double-header on Saturday.
