GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team couldn't stop the Cornerstone bats in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference double-header, on Saturday. The Saints fell 14-4 and 16-6, both games lasted seven innings.

The first game started out slow, CU taking an unearned run in the first inning, then adding five runs in both the third and sixth innings to take an 11-0 lead. Siena Heights offense was quiet until the seventh inning when the Saints capitalized on the Golden Eagles' error and pushed four runs across the plate. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough as CU managed three run in the bottom of the seventh to end game one.

Opening on the mound for SHU (13-25, 12-12 WHAC) was Kyle Kuhr, throwing 2.2 innings and suffereing the loss. Also making appearances on the mound was Tristan Roth, Cameron Best and Robert Oliver III. Winning pitcher Collin Young allowed five hits and four runs in 6.2 innings of action prior to getting relieved by Troy Holstad for the final out in the seventh inning.

Cornerstone (19-23, 11-11 WHAC) again opened the scoring in game two with two in the first inning. The Saints came out strong in the second inning, pushing four runs home and another in the fourth inning to take a 5-3 lead over the Golden Eagles. CU responded with three runs in the fifth and sixth innings to takeover with a 9-5 advantage. SHU put one back on the board, 9-6, but Conerstone ended the contest with seven runs in the bottom of the sevventh to end it 16-6.

Four different Saints made an appearance on the hill, starting with Chris McKiddie who threw 4.1 innings for SHU and allowing nine hits and six runs to take the loss. Ben Finn came on for 1.2 innings in the fifth, allowing three hits and three runs. Closing out the game for the Saints was Erich Klingelhofer and Landon Lumbrezer. Clay Keltner earned the win for the Golden Eagles after six innings of action. Brett Shure threw the final inning for CU.

Finishing with multiple-hit games for the Saints was Freddy Jehle, Brenden Baker and Brendan Green.

Siena Heights will travel to Spring Arbor for a solo contest on Tuesday. First pitch for the non-conference is set for 4 p.m.
